Mao Tse-Tung and his China

Title: Mao Tse-Tung and his China
Author: Albert Marrin
Date Published: 1989
Genre: Biography
Synopsis: The book follows Mao throughout his entire life, his upbringing, education, political career, etc.
Application to today: This biography is a great insight into a communist take over. Mao comes to power at a time when the Chinese people are suffering. He offers a different form of government and the people welcome it with open arms. It seems radical to think that any group of people would openly embrace communism yet it happens over and over again throughout history and this is a great example of that. We see examples of this in America today. Though we are not embracing communism we have fully embraced socialist programs in America. Socialism is often seen as a bridge to communism.
